About
Mike Allen Systems has evolved out of my consulting business in order to produce a product that is targeted to current market needs.
I've always been agnostic about technology, partially because I've been in the business for quite a while, and have seen a lot of the latest thing coming along, going and then forgotten. The other part is that I see technology as a tool to solve business problems and feel it is important to fit the tool to the solution and not the solution to the tool. Having said that, as a small solutions provider, I can't support all technologies, my current focus is on Microsoft Office and the .NET technologies. My language of choice is C#, with the SQL Server as my preferred database, although I do support other SQL databases.
This website is largely hand-turned, not for any specific reason, but it is the descendent of a web site I wrote for a vegetable shop and then a book shop, and then I recycled the bits for my own website. One of the reasons it's manual is to keep it simple, implement menus the way that I wanted and use cascading style sheets. Most of the web site tools wanted me to do it their way, which didn't quite suit me, but I've started using Expression Web 3 which lets me work in the way that I want to.
