Code signing for ease of use and peace of mind
19th January 2010
I've just bought a Comodo personal code signing certificate in order to make macros and modules in Access and Excel easier to use and also for installation packages, C# code, signing Word documents and emails. It's amazing how far a certificate can go. This is mainly theory to me as this is my first personal certificate, but it's looking pretty useful at the moment. A lot of people (like me) put certificates off because they are expensive, but I used ksoftware and got a certificate for USD $99

Transition to Microsoft technology completed
6th January 2010
Last year I joined the Microsoft 'BizSpark' initative in order to have access to advanced development tools. I also converted my website to IIS and moved fully into Office 2007. I have started using the Expression tools a lot more, and have become a full convert to Expression Web 3 (it's really great you should try it). This year I intend to leverage this transformation into more opportunities for my growing business.
I made the the decision to consolidate on Microsoft mainly because I am a small business and I can't do everything. C# and .NET had a lot to do with my thinking, it was either that or Java. I wanted a single language to support web, desktop and server and C# gives me that, I also have a close eye on C# support for Silverlight and Office 2010.
